The Greene County Schools board of education has a full agenda for its regular meeting today, March 22. The meeting is a week later than usual due to spring break last week.
The meeting will begin with a canvass of the March 14 special election and administering the oath of office to new board member Steve Fisher.
Old business on the agenda includes discussion of advertising/public relations. Local media may present proposals for advertising.
New business on the agenda includes discussion of transportation for students playing soccer in Boone under a shared sports agreement. The board declined last November to provide transportation for girls on the Boone swim team.
Superintendent Tim Christensen will present a budget proposal for the 2017-18 school year. The budget calls for a slight increase in the levy rate. The board will set a public hearing date for that budget and also for an amendment to the current year budget.
The board will discuss summer projects to be paid for with sales tax and PPEL funds, and uses for money allocated by Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation. The board has discretion over the use of the Grow Greene County funds, but is asked to submit a letter indicating how they will be used.
In all, there are 14 items of new business. Click here for the complete agenda.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm in the conference room at the administrative building at 204 W. Madison St in Jefferson. It will be preceded by a work session at 5:15 with high school teachers as the presenters.
